“Sadly Heaven & Hell were unable to
perform at The Metalway Festival in Zaragoza
on Sunday due to acute back problems
suffered by Tony which left him in
considerable pain and unable to stand.
Ronnie, Geezer and Vinny spoke to the
audience to explain the situation. The band
is extremely disappointed that the show
couldn’t take place and hope to make it up
to the ticket holders when they resume
touring in Europe.“
“Tony would like to personally apologize
everyone who came to see the band, had there
been anyway to perform he would have done
so.”

Schedule North American Tour Dates For
August
Coheed And Cambria To Be Featured As Support
For Month Long Trek
Tickets For Most Dates On Sale The Weekend
Of May 8
LOS ANGELES — Heaven & Hell, the quartet of
Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler,
and Vinny Appice, will bring their wicked
world tour to North America for a select
number of shows this August. The band will
start their summer headlining music
festivals across Europe before bringing
their macabre stage show of metal classics
to North America starting on August 7 in
Vancouver. Tickets for most shows go on sale
the weekend of May 8. There will also be a
presale for all shows, except Baltimore,
beginning May 6 at 10AM local time. Coheed
And Cambria will provide support on all
shows except the Seattle date on August 8,
which will feature Neurosis in the
supporting slot.
On April 28, Heaven & Hell released their
first album in 17 years THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
and the highly anticipated set did not
disappoint. Revolver Magazine declared it
“an album of ageless metal anthems” and The
Associated Press praised its “bone-crunching
riffs and power chords that can loosen the
phlegm in your chest.” The band plans to mix
in several tracks from THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
into their set of Dio-era Black Sabbath
classics.
Heaven & Hell began writing for THE DEVIL
YOU KNOW last year, first in England at
Iommi’s home studio and later in Los Angeles
at Dio’s studio. “The band had gotten too
good to just walk away,” Dio says. “We
wanted to show people that we were still
capable of giving them new music that
measured up to what we’d done in the past.”
With that goal in mind, the band hit the
Rockfield Studios in Wales last winter and
the result is the 10-song epic THE DEVIL YOU
KNOW.
Coheed And Cambria bring their unique blend
of prog and metal as the supporting act on
the tour. The band just released their
Neverender box set. The 4-CD/5-DVD
collection chronicles a series of 2008 shows
where the band performed all four of their
albums in the same city on consecutive
nights.

Pre-Order “The
Devil You Know” and Listen to the track
“Bible Black”
Roadrunner Records is honoured to
announce the worldwide signing (ex-North
America, Japan, & Asia) of the highly
respected, legendary group Heaven & Hell.
The label is proud to include Heaven & Hell
in their celebrated roster of bands at the
top of their game.
Heavy metal icons Ronnie James Dio, Tony
Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice are
set to release a brand new album - their
first under the moniker Heaven & Hell, with
Black Sabbath's last studio album having
been 17 YEARS AGO – on April 27. Titled The
Devil You Know, this is an event for every
classic rock and metal fan to get excited
about!
After finishing several heralded world tours
as Heaven & Hell last summer, the
influential band were tighter than ever
before, both musically and personally.
Agreeing that it would be a shame to stop
making music together at tour’s end, the
quartet began writing, first in England at
Iommi’s home studio and later in Los Angeles
at Dio’s studio. “The band had gotten too
good to just walk away,” Dio says. “We
wanted to show people that we were still
capable of giving them new music that
measured up to what we’d done in the past.”
With that goal in mind, the band once again
converged on Rockfield Studios in Wales last
winter, the same place they used 17 years
earlier to record their last album,
Dehumanizer. The result is the long awaited
new album The Devil You Know, featuring 10
soon-to-be-classic tracks from the Dio-fronted
version of Black Sabbath.
Bible Black, the epic first single, begins
with Iommi on acoustic guitar behind Dio’s
plaintive wail before the rhythm shifts to a
menacing stomp for the rest of this dark
tale about a book of sinister scriptures.
One of the first songs written for the
album, Dio says it established a tone for
the rest of the album. “When you start off
with a blockbuster like that, it makes the
rest of the album so much easier because it
gives you a benchmark to measure the other
songs against.”
Iommi proves he hasn’t lost the ability to
inspire six-string envy, unleashing riffs
like a pack of rabid hellhounds on Atom And
Evil, Fear, Neverwhere, and Eating The
Cannibals, a tune about doing more than
biting the hand that feeds. Butler and
Appice slow the pace while ramping up the
intensity on Follow The Tears and Double The
Pain and Breaking Into Heaven, the latter
diverging from its glacial procession for
Dio’s majestic chorus about fallen angels
planning an attack on paradise.
Track Listing:
Atom And Evil
Fear
Bible Black
Double The Pain
Rock And Roll Angel
The Turn Of The Screw
Eating The Cannibals
Follow The Tears
Neverwhere
Breaking Into Heaven
When the songs were finished, Dio says he,
Iommi and Butler marveled at their own
brutal efficiency. “We almost felt guilty to
tell you the truth. We looked at each other
at one point and said: ‘Is it really done? I
can’t do it any better. Can you? No. Then I
guess were done’,” he recalls laughing. “At
the end of the day, I think what separates
this band is that we know who we are. We
want to do one thing well and not try to be
something we’re not.”

It took less than three weeks to finish the
album, with most of the songs only needing a
couple of takes. “It was good to play them
live in the studio. It keeps you on edge,”
Iommi says. “I mean, somewhere along the
line we were gonna have to play them live;
might as well start in the studio.” Butler
adds: “We’ve learned from the past that you
can kill a song doing it over and over. The
first Sabbath albums were done in two or
three days. Technically they weren’t great,
but vibe-wise they were great. If you
capture that feeling, that’s all you need.”

HEAVEN & HELL
SET TO REVEAL THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
Highly
Anticipated New Album From Ronnie James Dio,
Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice
To Be Released April 28 From Rhino.
LOS ANGELES —Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi,
Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice returned to
the stage after 15 years in 2007, launching
a triumphant world tour as Heaven & Hell.
Revitalized and inspired by its time on the
road, the quartet recently returned to the
studio, recording the band’s first album
since 1992’s Dehumanizer. The highly
anticipated album, THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, will
be available from Rhino on April 28.
“Everyone had so much fun playing together
that we didn’t want it to end,” says the
group. “We started writing together and the
songs started flowing like we never stopped.
We wound up writing and recording an album
that stands up to anything we’ve ever done.
We’re really proud of the music and excited
for people to hear it.”
The dark tone heard on THE DEVIL YOU KNOW is
clear from several of the album’s song
titles, such as “Bible Black,” “Rock & Roll
Angel,” “Breaking Into Heaven,” “Atom &
Evil” and “Eating The Cannibals.”
The seeds of the new album were planted in
2006, when Dio, Iommi, Butler and Appice
returned to the studio to record a trio of
new songs for Black Sabbath: The Dio Years,
a recent compilation of essential tracks
taken from the quartet’s four albums
together. Soon after, the band launched a
run of sold-out shows around the world,
electrifying audiences with its malevolent
metal fury.

Momorabilia Archive Tour!
After the
successful first two legs of Home of Metal
the team is back in 2009 for the biggest leg
of this unique fans memorabilia archive
tour. With around 1000 visitors attending
the previous Open Day events that took place
at New Art Gallery Walsall and Wolverhampton
Art Gallery, the Birmingham leg looks to be
a very interesting and well attended event.
The event takes place Saturday 7th of
February, Waterhall. Birmingham Museum & Art
Gallery, 11am - 4pm
Fans of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Judas
Priest, Napalm Death and Godflesh, and are
being encouraged to bring along their
related memorabilia, photos and stories to
the museum to be recorded and archived on
the innovative
www.homeofmetal.com website that
will provide a historical resource for fans,
musicians, educational environments and
journalists alike highlighting the
incredible global impact of this genre of
music, which originated in Birmingham and
The Black Country.
“Heavy Metal was born in the West Midlands
and has developed a global following matched
only in Hip-Hop. Its time to stop sneering
and celebrate this proud cultural heritage…”
Daniel Trilling – New Statesman 30th July
2007
The archive is focused on the innovators of
the genre and those that continued to
develop it: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin,
Judas Priest, Napalm Death and Godflesh.
Ideally the organisers, Capsule, are looking
for fans to dig out their band T-shirts,
ticket stubs, photos, fanzines, autographs,
tour programmes, flyers etc to help
celebrate the Midlands musical heritage and
help to build a digital archive to tell the
true story of Metal and its unique
birthplace.
Home Of Metal aims to celebrate the bands
that helped put Birmingham & the Black
Country on the musical map, but also had the
imagination and talent to create new genres
and movements, all in their own individual
ways. From Black Sabbath, unquestionably the
founding fathers of heavy metal who
introduced a sense of darkness, the
supernatural, and huge, heavy riffs to an
era still celebrating peace, love and flower
power. Led Zeppelin, arguably one of the
worlds biggest ever bands, who were one of
the first to dirty up RnB and recreate it as
Hard Rock. Judas Priest, defenders of the
faith whose twin guitar attack paved the way
for multitudes of melodic metal acts in
their wake. The 80s and 90s are also
represented by Napalm Death, whose first two
albums introduced Grindcore to an
unsuspecting world, and finally Godflesh,
whose brooding, desolate soundscapes
pioneered industrial metal.
Apart from their postal codes and accents,
all of these bands share a common trait in
that they all were unwilling to conform to
the established rules and guidelines of
their respective musical scenes, and
instead, embraced originality and all
brought something staggeringly new to their
respective musical scenes, and for the most
part, established new genres, sub-cultures
and continue to inspire to this day.
Hosted by Kerrang! Radio presenter - the
legendary Johnny Doom + special guests /
films / a selection of memorabilia. Free
event everyone welcome.

Heaven And
Hell: Classic Rock Hears Their New Songs
Classic Rock
has heard three unfinished tracks from
Heaven And Hell’s debut album. In a
world-exclusive we visited vocalist Ronnie
James Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist
Geezer Butler and drummer Vinny Appice on
the final day of tracking at Rockfield
Studios in Wales.
Some final touches were still to be added;
for example Iommi wanted to add guitar solos
at his home studio, and the material was in
an unmixed state.
Due to be released in late April, the
album’s 10 tracks were co-produced by the
group and engineer Mike Exeter.
The songs we heard were a moody, thuddingly
malevolent number called Rock ’N’ Roll
Jesus, the pacier and more anthemic
Neverwhere, and a slice of sloth-like
majesty that’s likely to be titled Breaking
Into Heaven.
Other tracks expected to appear include
Bible Black, Double Pain and Atom + Evil.
With the band having recorded three tracks
for the Black Sabbath: The Dio Years
anthology and played around 100 shows as
Heaven And Hell, writing began at Iommi and
Dio’s houses in England and California
respectively, either side of the Metal
Masters tour of America with Motörhead,
Judas Priest and Testament.
“Each of us submitted a CD of our ideas, and
we narrowed it down from there,” explains
Iommi. “In some ways it was like picking up
where we’d left off with Dehumanizer
[Sabbath’s 1992 album], which was also done
at Rockfield.”
“I never thought this band would get back
together, but here we are,” marvels Appice.
“Everyone’s more mature, and when we play
together it’s just a monster.”
Touring plans are currently being finalised.

Tony
Iommi rocks onto the Walk of Star’s this
November 23rd
Fresh on the heels of Julie Walter’s
accepting the offer of a star (date to be
confirmed), the Broad Street Business
Improvement District is delighted to
announce that Heaven and Hell guitarist,
founding member of Black Sabbath, Grammy
Award winner and king of heavy metal Tony
Iommi will be honoured on the Broad Street
Walk of Star’s on Sunday 23rd November 2008.
Following an afternoon of live music from
local bands on the stage in Centenary Square
‘Kerrang Radio’ presenter Johnny Doom will
host the evening, with the presentation of
the star taking place at 6.30pm.
Born in
Aston,
Birmingham, guitarist and songwriter
Tony is best known as the founding member of
pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath,
and more of less single-handedly inventing
the heavy rock music genre. Iommi is widely
recognized as one of the most important and
influential guitarists in rock music and is
widely considered to be the man who invented
the heavy metal riff.
Iommi has released over 30 albums with Black
Sabbath, 2 solo albums, has sold over 80
million copies and is the recipient of 20
platinum and 14 gold albums. Black Sabbath
were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame
in November 2005, and in March 2006 into New
York’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Currently working on a new studio album with
Heaven and Hell in America Tony is thrilled
to return home to accept his Walk of Star
honour; “It’s great – it’s really an honour
– I’m really proud of it … I was shocked!
It’s so nice to have things like that! I’ve
got one out in LA but I’m not from LA – It’s
so nice being recognised in your home town”.
Mike Olley, Broad Street Manager, said “We
are delighted to be welcoming Tony onto the
Broad Street Walk of Star’s. The
contribution he has made to rock music
deserves to be honoured and we are excited
he has agreed to give us the opportunity to
do so”.

Black Sabbath
Enforces The Rules of Hell: CD Box Set
Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath were
reborn in 1980 when founding members Tony Iommi and Terry “Geezer” Butler added
vocalist Ronnie James Dio to the lineup. The
band’s short but memorable time together
added an unforgettable chapter in Sabbath’s
storied history. Rhino relives the demonic
fury conjured by the Dio era with THE RULES
OF HELL, a boxed set featuring all three of
the band’s studio releases (Heaven And Hell,
Mob Rules, Dehumanizer) and their double
live collection (Live Evil) – each recently
remastered for the first time. The set comes
packaged in a deluxe slipcase with extensive
liner notes featuring all new interviews
with the band. This five-disc boxed set will
be available from Rhino on July 22 at all
physical outlets, as well as www.rhino.com
<http://www.rhino.com> , for a suggested
list price of $54.98. The set will also be
available the same day at all digital
outlets for a suggested list price of
$24.99.
Two years ago, Dio, Iommi and Butler and
drummer Vinny Appice reunited to record a
trio of new songs for Rhino’s Black Sabbath:
The Dio Years before launching a highly
anticipated and greatly acclaimed world tour
under their new moniker Heaven & Hell.
Revitalized by the reunion, the lineup is
back in the studio now recording the first
ever full-length studio album from Heaven &
Hell, set to be released by Rhino in early
2009. To whet the fans’ appetites for the
new album, Heaven & Hell will return to the
road for a short stint on the Metal Masters
Tour, a month-long North American trek with
Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Testament. This
blistering metal juggernaut will launch
August 6 in Philadelphia.
The Dio-era’s first effort, HEAVEN AND HELL,
hit the racks on April 25, 1980. Greeted by
ecstatic reviews, the album peaked at #9 in
Britain. In the U.S., its Top 30 success
gave the group its first platinum disc in
six years. Opening with the chugging anthem
“Neon Knights,” the album also includes the
epic title track, “Wishing Well,” “Die
Young” and “Lonely Is The Word.”
The group’s follow-up, MOB RULES, was the
first without original drummer Bill Ward,
who was replaced with Appice. The album
bristles with Iommi’s signature dark riffs,
Butler’s elaborate bass lines, Appice’s
hammering behind the drums and Dio’s
inimitable growling. The album includes the
high-octane tracks—“Falling Off The Edge Of
The World,” “Turn Up The Night,” and the
title track—plus the mid-tempo rocker
“Voodoo” and the slow-churning epic “The
Sign Of The Southern Cross,” a favorite
among band members and fans alike.
Released in December 1982, LIVE EVIL stands
as a modern metal masterpiece and a
testament to the power of the Dio, Iommi,
Butler and Appice lineup. Recorded in
Seattle, Dallas, and San Antonio, the sound
is upfront and aggressive, a virtual
front-row seat for epic versions of their
classics including “Neon Knights,” “Children
Of The Sea,” “The Sign Of The Southern
Cross” and “Heaven And Hell.”
DEHUMANIZER (1992) is seen by many metal
aficionados as one of—if not the
most—underrated work to ever carry the
Sabbath name. After the lineup fell apart in
1982, the group reconvened a decade later to
release this lost classic. The album forged
something new, pushing its legend to a new
generation of metal heads with incredible
tracks like “I,” “Computer God” and “TV
Crimes.”

Black Sabbath
Enforces The Rules of Hell: CD Box Set
LOS ANGELES –
Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath were
reborn in 1980 when founding members Tony
Iommi and Terry “Geezer” Butler added
vocalist Ronnie James Dio to the lineup. The
band’s short but memorable time together
added an unforgettable chapter in Sabbath’s
storied history. Rhino relives the demonic
fury conjured by the Dio era with THE RULES
OF HELL, a boxed set featuring all three of
the band’s studio releases (Heaven And Hell,
Mob Rules, Dehumanizer) and their double
live collection (Live Evil) – each recently
remastered for the first time. The set comes
packaged in a deluxe slipcase with extensive
liner notes featuring all new interviews
with the band. This five-disc boxed set will
be available from Rhino on July 22 at all
physical outlets, as well as www.rhino.com
<http://www.rhino.com> , for a suggested
list price of $54.98. The set will also be
available the same day at all digital
outlets for a suggested list price of
$24.99.
Two years ago, Dio, Iommi and Butler and
drummer Vinny Appice reunited to record a
trio of new songs for Rhino’s Black Sabbath:
The Dio Years before launching a highly
anticipated and greatly acclaimed world tour
under their new moniker Heaven & Hell.
Revitalized by the reunion, the lineup is
back in the studio now recording the first
ever full-length studio album from Heaven &
Hell, set to be released by Rhino in early
2009. To whet the fans’ appetites for the
new album, Heaven & Hell will return to the
road for a short stint on the Metal Masters
Tour, a month-long North American trek with
Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Testament. This
blistering metal juggernaut will launch
August 6 in Philadelphia.
The Dio-era’s first effort, HEAVEN AND HELL,
hit the racks on April 25, 1980. Greeted by
ecstatic reviews, the album peaked at #9 in
Britain. In the U.S., its Top 30 success
gave the group its first platinum disc in
six years. Opening with the chugging anthem
“Neon Knights,” the album also includes the
epic title track, “Wishing Well,” “Die
Young” and “Lonely Is The Word.”
The group’s follow-up, MOB RULES, was the
first without original drummer Bill Ward,
who was replaced with Appice. The album
bristles with Iommi’s signature dark riffs,

After weeks of speculation, Live Nation has
put together a killer package that is bound
to go down as the heavy metal event of 2008
- Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell, Motorhead,
and Testament will be touring together for
the first time.
Dubbed ‘The Metal Masters Tour,’ the sixteen
date U.S. trek kicks off August 6th at the
Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New
Jersey.
Judas Priest will be supporting their epic
concept album, ‘Nostradamus,’ which will
arrive on June 17th via Epic Records, and
tells the tale of the renowned 16th century
prophet. A few tracks from ‘Nostradamus’
will make their in-concert debut on ‘The
Metal Masters Tour,’ but the majority of
Priest’s set list will include some of
metal’s all-time classics, as well as fan
favorites that span the quintet’s entire
career. Without a doubt, this will be one of
Priest’s most powerful sets ever.
As a ‘sneak peak treat’ to fans starved for
a musical taster, the first cut off the new
album will make its world premiere debut as
exclusive free MP3 download starting today
exclusively at www.livenation.com/judaspriest.
Heaven & Hell will be supporting the release
of ‘The Rules Of Hell’ a five-CD boxed set
available on July 22nd from Rhino Records
which features re-mastered versions of all
four Dio-era Black Sabbath albums (‘Heaven
and Hell,’ ‘Mob Rules,’ ‘Live Evil,’ and ‘Dehumanizer’)
in a deluxe package with new liner notes.
Perennial road rats Motorhead will be
touring strictly for the love of it,
offering a fan favorites set spanning more
than three decades worth of molar-rattling
metal. Motorhead’s last album was 2006’s
‘Kiss of Death’ (released via Sanctuary
Records), their 19th studio set of their
long and highly influential career. A new
album is currently in the works as well,
which is currently being recorded at their
old pal Dave Grohl’s studio with a August
release date targeted. Lemmy blairs out,
"Here it comes everybody, the test of your
Metalness in 2008 and the years to come!
Come one come all and be abused!"
Rounding out the line-up will be legendary
thrash metal titans Testament, whose new
album, ‘The Formation of Damnation,’ (April
29th,) displays Testament as the
quintessential modern heavy metal band,
whose experience and accumulated skill
allows them to attack with reserves of
anger, energy and finesse that make them
more powerful than ever. Lead singer Chuck
Billy says, “Uniting these bands is the
heavy metal event of generations. We are so
proud to be a part of it.”
Although all four bands may represent
different subgenres of heavy metal, all four
have one thing in common – they have stuck
to their stylistic guns through thick and
thin, and have remained true to the metal
form.
And soon, band and fan will be united as one
on ‘The Metal Masters Tour.’
“As ever, we look forward to screaming out
loud with our metal maniac fans when we hit
the road,” enthuses Priest singer, Rob
Halford. “Thank you once again for your
devotion and support. The Priest is back!”
